A Glossary of the Middle Ages (Virtual)

CRN : 60106-203
« back to classes page
ClassGraphic Life in the Middle Ages was so different from today that there is a whole glossary of words to describe it. In our six-week lecture series, we will focus on and explore themes of medieval life such as warfare, religion, and politics. We will explore the daily life of a European in what we used to call the 'Dark Ages' and learn the unusual techniques and terms used by both peasants and princes to get through their day. We will closely examine many daily scenes in the Middle Ages including: exploring the different careers open to a young villager, attending the siege of a fortress castle, and experiencing a royal wedding. Have you ever wondered how a heavily armored knight mounted his horse? Why people went to barbers for medical cures? All this and much more when you open the Glossary of the Middle Ages.
