Documentary Filmmaking Fundamentals takes young, budding filmmakers through the beginning-to-end process of creating their own documentary short film. Students will learn how to research and understand a subject matter, identify a unique perspective, craft a compelling narrative, build trust with subjects, and choose a narration style, all while gaining the technical skills in camera and audio that are required to bring their subject to life on the screen. This class is ideal for students who want to use documentary filmmaking as a tool for social change, as an outlet for artistic expression, or as a platform for giving a voice to the voiceless.
NOTE: A limited number of scholarships are available for Theater & Film programs. Students must be eligible for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program to receive a scholarship. If you are interested, please click here for more information. Additionally, Constellation Stage & Screen programs are not eligible for Ivy Tech Employee Fee Remission.
