What does aloha mean?

''Aloha'' means more than hello or goodbye. ''Aloha'' means caring for each other without expecting anything in return from the other person. "Aloha" is the important part of relationships in which each person is special to every other person.

During our week of music camp, our islanders will dive into the beauty and traditions of Hawaii through its songs, dances, rich vocabulary and traditional island instruments such as the ukulele.

Our Hawaiian journey will lead us to one of the most famous Hawaiian singers, Iz. The book “The Good Song” is based on the life of Israel Kamakawiwo’ole (1959-1997) and celebrates the inspiration behind Iz’s medley of “Over the Rainbow” and “What a Wonderful World”. Each participant will receive a copy of the book, as well as a t-shirt.

A live performance will take place at the StoneGate Arts & Education Center at the end of the last day of camp. We will provide more details about this, as well as drop-off/pick-up instructions in initial communications as we approach the start date.
