We're bringing back our College for Kids Baking Camps this summer where rising 6th-8th grade students will get the chance to learn the foundational techniques of baking in the professional kitchens of Ivy Tech's Hospitality Program! In Breakfast Baked Goods, we'll be making biscuits, scones, muffins, pop-tarts, baked doughnuts, and cinnamon rolls, with new recipes this year. Each day will reward you with something delicious to share with friends and family! This camp is for rising 6th-8th graders.
NOTE: This camp is not eligible for Ivy Tech Employee Fee Remission due to limited capacity.
SUPPLIES: All supplies are included. Students will receive copies of the recipes, as well as any remaining food to take home. We will communicate ahead of time any container requirements for transporting bakes home.
PREREQUISITE: This camp is hands-on and can be physically demanding. Participants must be able to stand for up to 3 hours and be able to lift mixing bowls, hold a rolling pin, and stir batters with a spatula on their own. Please reach out to lifelonglearning@ivytech.edu with any concerns regarding camp accommodations in this regard.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS: When completing the youth participation form for this class, please list any dietary restrictions, food allergies, or relevant medical information of which we should be aware. Recipes for all Ivy Tech baking camps can be made gluten or dairy free and can accommodate nut and fruit allergies. Recipes for this camp are not vegan accessible or egg-free.
YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS: A limited number of scholarships are available for Ivy Tech Youth Programs participants. Students must be eligible for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program to receive a scholarship. If you are interested, please click here for more information.
