Introduction to Mosaics - Glass & Mirror Plaques

Discover the art of mosaics in this introductory course with Sara Colvard, as we combine gorgeous art glass with the visual “language” of Byzantine mosaics to create a circular, wall-hung artwork! In this course, Sara will teach a brief overview of Byzantine mosaics, how to design a circular pattern and choose effective color combinations, how to safely cut and shape glass pieces with nippers, and how to use adhesive and grout to create and finish your mosaic.  By the end of the course you will have learned a core foundation from which to explore additional styles and techniques of mosaic.

Glass mosaic is a great entry point into the world of mosaics!  This course is perfect for the beginner, as well as for those who may think they have no artistic ability.  Regardless of your experience level, you’ll be able to take home a unique and glittering piece of home decor.

All skill levels welcome, all materials and supplies will be provided.

YOUTH ELIGIBILITY: This workshop is open to adults, as well as youth participants ages 12+ who plan to attend with an authorized adult who is also registered.
