Step into a world of magic and wonder with Theater Playground for Littles: A Mythical Creature Quest, an expanded version of Constellation’s Theater Playground program for rising 1st-3rd graders, specifically designed to ignite imaginations and build essential theater skills. Each day, young "questers" will explore legendary realms through enchanting activities like Dragon Dreams, Unicorn Universe, Mermaid Mystery, Phoenix Fantasy, Pegasus Playground, and Fairy Folklore, using these themes as a springboard for learning fundamental performance techniques.
Campers will master basic theater concepts such as vocal expression (pitch, volume, and character voices), physical storytelling through pantomime and tableau (frozen pictures), and the collaborative art of ensemble building. Theater Playgrounds’ primary goals are to foster self-confidence, develop social-emotional intelligence – including empathy and turn-taking – and strengthen narrative skills like sequencing a story with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
Beyond the stage, the camp is packed with enrichment activities, including crafting personalized mythical masks, participating in sensory-guided "journeys," and solving collaborative riddles to unlock the day's magical mystery. By the end of the week, campers will have transformed from fledgling explorers into confident storytellers, ready to share their own mythical adventures with family and friends in a mini showcase at Constellation Studios.
This camp is the ideal primer for Constellation’s Theater Camp for Littles: The Lorax in July.
Camp Showcase: A Mythical Creature Quest Showcase will be Friday, June 5; 3:30pm at Constellation Studios.
