For rising 4th-7th graders, Theater Camp for Kids: The Odyssey - Session 2 offers a hands-on, beginning-to-end experience of being in a play. Experienced professional teaching artists will guide campers through the process of auditioning, casting, table reads, table work, blocking and staging, rehearsing, adding technical elements (costumes, props, wigs, lights, sound), and performance. Campers will also explore improvisation techniques and character creation with a focus on artistic collaboration. In addition, campers will learn and build upon skills in acting, voice, movement, theater etiquette, and comedic timing as they bring to life one of the greatest stories ever written -- Homer's The Odyssey!
Join brave Odysseus on a legendary journey home as he outsmarts mighty gods and outruns mythical monsters in this epic, kid-friendly, high-seas adventure! The week culminates in an afternoon showcase at the John Waldron Arts Center that gives budding young theater artists the opportunity to shine.
Camp Showcase: The Odyssey showcase will be held on Friday, July 24, 3:30pm at Constellation Playhouse.
