Curious about fermentation but not sure where to start? Fermentation 101 is a hands-on, beginner-friendly class that explores the basics of fermenting foods at home. We’ll cover different fermentation methods, essential supplies, and how to create the right environment—including an introduction to fermentation chambers. Together, we’ll ferment vegetables, sample a variety of fermented foods, and talk through troubleshooting tips and safety best practices. By the end of class, each participant will take home their own jar of sauerkraut and the confidence to start fermenting on their own.

This class is not eligible for fee remission for Ivy Tech employees due to limited capacity. Please see our CLL fee remission guidelines for more information.
