When you think of knitting, socks may not be the first thing that comes to mind. However, knitting a pair of socks teaches you basic knitting techniques that apply to more advanced patterns. If you’ve dreamed of creating your own knitwear, knitting socks is a great way to work on fundamentals. In this class we’ll cover reading a pattern, choosing the correct yarn, knitting styles, caring for knitwear, and basic mending. You’ll have this knowledge to take forward into future knitting projects. We’ll create our own knitting circle and experience the community and discussion that comes along with sitting together and practicing the same craft. Some experience is helpful but not required to take part.
Supplies: A supply kit with everything you'll need for class may be purchased from the instructor with cash, check, or Venmo on the first day of class (estimate cost of $40-50). A list of materials for anyone who would like to bring their own supplies will be provided a week before the start date along with classroom/parking directions and schedule reminder. If you have questions about supplies before then, please reach out to us at lifelonglearning@ivytech.edu.
