Sewing machines can be intimidating, especially when dreaming of creating your own clothing. This class will help you become acquainted with your sewing machine and take the first step towards a me-made wardrobe! We’ll cover everything from threading and cleaning your machine, choosing and preparing patterns, gathering materials, to finally sewing your very own top! We’ll be using a basic boxy top pattern that is size inclusive.
Supplies: Students will be required to provide their own sewing machine in good working order. Communal tools will be available for use (fabric shears, ironing board, etc.). A list of materials students will need to bring for the first class will be provided a week before the start date along with classroom/parking directions and schedule reminder. If you have questions about supplies before then, please reach out to us at lifelonglearning@ivytech.edu.
NOTE: This class is not eligible for fee remission for Ivy Tech employees due to limited capacity. Please see our CLL fee remission guidelines for more information.
