Homesteading: Poultry

Bill Pursell explores an agricultural approach to living sustainably in this 5-week class on raising poultry. You’ll learn about the different breeds, varieties, and classes of poultry, plus housing and feeding, disease and predator control, egg production, and related practices. The course will cover a wide variety of fowl, from chickens and ducks to geese, peafowls, guineas, quail, pigeons, and doves. No experience in raising poultry is required.

Note: This class will be held in-person at the Ivy Tech Bloomington Main Campus in a Learn Anywhere classroom that also accommodates live instruction for those who wish to attend virtually. All students will have the opportunity to participate and may attend either in-person or virtually via Zoom for most class sessions. The third and fifth class will involve in-person demonstrations that will not be accessible via Zoom.

Household Discount: Registered students may sign up one additional member of their household to attend this class at no cost. If you plan to have someone attend with you, please make sure they are added as a member to your household profile (if they have a separate individual profile, that is fine, as well) and continue with the registration process, during which you'll list them as an additional participant and we will add them to the class within 1 business day of your completed registration.

To add someone to your household profile you can go to the "Household Profile" menu option when logged in and follow the link to "Add adult member to household" to create their profile, which will be linked to your household contact information.
