Does your teen have an interest in bringing stories to life through theater or film? This introductory course will cover the basics of writing scripts for plays, short film, and beyond, from crafting compelling story ideas appropriate for each medium, to structure and formatting fundamentals.

With the guidance from local award-winning playwright and screenwriter Brennen Edwards, students will learn to:

- Explore their creative process and writing style
- Grow their craft in plotting structure, developing characters, crafting strong dialogue, and showing vs. telling
- Learn the basics of using scriptwriting software
- Write a complete short script
- Participate in table reads and writing workshop processes with an emphasis on positive, useful feedback

NOTE: While Introduction to Scriptwriting is not graded and does not require homework, completing at-home writing activities and time spent preparing outside of class are strongly recommended to get the most out of this course.
