Discover the art of being funny without saying a word. Constellation's The Art of Physical Comedy for adults is a playful, hands-on exploration of the essential principles required for great physical comedy: rhythm and timing, precision, stillness, exaggeration, and surprise. Through movement exercises, partner work, ensemble games, clown-inspired techniques, and silent storytelling, students will learn how the body can be used as a full, comic instrument. The class will focus on building confidence, sharpening physical awareness, and developing a personal comedy toolkit that can be applied to stage performance, character work, improvisation, and everyday theatrical play.
Students will investigate why physical comedy works, how to safely create the illusion of accident or disaster, and how failure, commitment, and vulnerability can become powerful sources of laughter.
Some acting exposure is recommended, though no previous comedy or movement experience is required—only a willingness to move, to play, and to embrace the joy of looking foolish. This is a physically active course; comfortable clothing and a willingness to spend time on the floor are required.
