Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty! Constellation’s Broadway Bound: Matilda In Concert (Grades 6-8) is a 10-week performance class that gives budding young actors and singers the opportunity to learn and workshop scenes and ensemble numbers from the smart, high-energy, and wildly theatrical Matilda the Musical. Inspired by Roald Dahl’s beloved story, students will explore a world of clever kids, outrageous adults, big imagination, and the power of standing up for what is right.
Under the direction of experienced, professional teaching artists, students will develop the building blocks of stage etiquette, musicianship, musicality, character work, and performance technique in an enriching and supportive musical theater environment. With dynamic musical numbers such as “Naughty,” “When I Grow Up,” “School Song,” and “Revolting Children,” students will strengthen storytelling skills, vocal confidence, ensemble singing, movement, and the ability to make bold character choices on stage. The class will culminate in a concert-style showcase on November 12.
Notes:
- Students should be comfortable singing in front of others.
- This class will require outside preparation/memorization.
- Attendance is crucial. If you foresee conflicts, please consider joining us for a future class.
