Discover the art of mosaics in this new introductory course with Sara Colvard, as we experiment with color and pattern to create a set of four ceramic tile mosaic coasters.
In this course, Sara will teach a brief overview of contemporary folk art mosaics and basic color theory, how to utilize nippers to shape tile pieces, and how to use mortar and grout to create and finish a durable and water-resistant mosaic. In making a set of four small mosaics, students will be encouraged to explore the interplay of color and design. By the end of the course you will have learned a core foundation from which to explore additional styles and techniques of mosaic.
Coasters are a perfect bite-sized introduction for the novice mosaicist, as well as for those who may think they have no artistic ability. Regardless of your experience level, you’ll be able to take home a unique and useful creation!
All skill levels welcome, all materials and supplies will be provided.
